Some info I put together for Team Jones (we're happy to share):

Sparkly Text

Perhaps nothing says "I love the Jonas Brothers and still have a MySpace account" quite like sparkly text.

There are a couple of ways to achieve this. The laziest is to use the sparkle text generators made so popular by Those Damned Kids on My Space. These sites generate sparkly GIFs and host them for you, but at a price: they usually have an advertising link. Some sites:

Glitter Bank
Sparklee
New Graphic MySpace

These sites usually generate a code block for you, which you can copy and paste into the comment window (remember to paste into the HTML window, not the Rich text window). Flash doesn't seem to be well supported by LJ, so I mostly avoid the Flash generators.

If you’d like the slightly more subdued look of an animated background behind regular text, you’re going to have to do a little HTML. The first step is to find a fun background (smaller is better) and upload it to Photobucket or your pet hosting site. Armed with the URL, copy ‘n’ paste the following into the comment window:

<SPAN STYLE="font-color:blue;font-size:40pt;background-image: url(http://yourhostingsite/yourgif.gif)">I RULE!</SPAN>

Replace the URL with the link to your fun graphic (obvy). You can change the font color by substituting a word (pink, blue, etc.) or a hex color code, and you can change the point size.

Now we're jamming!
