I'm a longtime Poirot fan. Years ago when I used to watch all the time, (*long* before before I was introduced to *slash*) I definitely got that impression. He would give the occasional appreciative glance at a lovely ingenue, and I think he did have at least one female romantic interest that I recall, but I agree his gestalt is gay. Poirot/Hastings makes perfect sense!
