Dear Shatner,
no, I don't think your trek books (with the Reeves-whatnot) work. "Giving, in my mind, a life to the original cast to go through these adventures" - eh, no. And it's IMVHO rather telling that Nimoy doesn't comment on that at all.
IMVHO it also was not a good idea to use your own (Shatner) "passages" and lay them on Kirk. Marty-Stu, anyone? You just proved my suspicion.
I detest the one-dimensional, uber-hero Kirk of your books and had a very hard time to reconcile it with my Kirk love - "if that's Shatner's vision of the character, then I HATE KIRK."
