That's why in my brain, McCoy and Pike and Kirk work so wonderfully together in fic. From Duties by [livejournal.com profile] quiet1katie, McCoy asking slug-damaged Pike if he's in pain:

"And remember, I’ve roomed with Jim Kirk for the last three years, so I know when some macho ass is trying to snow me.”

Also, I'm dead tired and should work some more, and since I was so busy today, I could not write my sad Pike plot bunny of this morning which is probably very good in a certain someone's opinion does not look at [livejournal.com profile] taraljc.

Maybe they were secretly replaced with Foldger's Crystals android doubles?

That happens all the time, you know.

meanwhile, i'm still working on Number One tearing Pike a new asshole for disappearing to Talos IV and not telling her and Phil anyone. And I keep kinda twitching as I try to make Pike being trapped on Talos IV with a crazycakes Vina not a horrifying tragedy of epic proportions.

ETA: I'll forgive you for writing OH NOES TRAGEDY! in teh Prime Universe, you realise, if you write me follow it up with happy fluffy Pike, Number One, and Boyce fic set in the Star Trek (2009) timeline of non-tragedy, you know.

I could use a moment of canon(?) help - it seems the Yorktown pops up as Number One's ship. Where does it come from, can I use it?

It's fanon from the novels. In Vulcan's Glory, Pike and Number One served together on the Yorktown prior to Enterprise. The Yorktown was Roddenberry's original name for the ship in his early drafts of the pilot, abck when Robert April was still the captain.

Also, it looks like she may be in command of the Yorkie in the new IDW miniseries Romulans: Schism but I never got an asnwer out of Chris Ryall, and the preview pages I saw had no world ballons yet...

As to where it comes from in AOS fanon... that would be, erm... my fanfic? *draws circles in dirt with toe*.

And HELLS YES you can use it :)

Thank you!! :)

(Adding exclamation marks because your answer is worth it and I love that ship's name. And I promise I will write sad original and happier reboot, okay?)
