From Memory Alpha about Star Trek VI:

Original plans for the movie had Kirk married and all members of the main cast scattered around to different jobs. Uhura was a radio show hostess, Scotty a teacher and Sulu a taxi driver on some backwater alien colony. Budget limitations forced to leave all this out from the movie, and the scene at Starfleet Command was used instead.

Dare I say that I thank some deity for the budget limit?? *rolls eyes*

Yet another broken DVD from a renting system (Amazon this time, "Celluloid Closet"). I'm so glad I cancelled them all. They suck.

Ha :) and a TOS question about the gaps between movies IV/V and V/VI

My hair is "wild" again, and it's short too. Yay!

The weather is bleh, wet, stucky snow and wind.

And I got a question - I've never before had the problem of trying to write in the late Startrek TOS movie canon, and I find I'm kind of floundering.

I'm surfing some websites now and will read the novelizations of V and VI later, but I'd like to know what your personal opinions and/or favorite explanations are for what Kirk, Spock and McCoy (and the other crewmembers) do in between those gaps. Is the Enterprise used for diplomatic milkruns? Mostly for training of ensigns? Saving the galaxy? Each man pursuing a kind of side-line career on his own? A mix of it all?

Recs of your favorite gap-filling online stories and pro-novels etc are welcome :)
