Kiva and Kenya
Jan. 19th, 2008 02:52 pmRemember KIVA - loans that change lives?
Last year, I put a few dollars there. One of my loans went to Mary Warau Waweru in Kenya. Her payments stopped in November. 50% of all loans from this Kenyan field partner didn't get paid back. Let's hope that Mary and everyone else is only on the run and not anything worse.
EDIT: Seems there's a special problem with the field partner - I still hope the latest outbreaks have no major repercussions to the folks :)
If you feel like, take a few dollars and loan them out too. Even if you may not get them back, it helps people to build businesses and feed their families.
