It's 0355 in Germany in the middle of the night, and since I haven't installed something new to play with in a while, I thought it's a good time to start now ;)

DAZ Studio is something similar to Poser, but for free. As the DAZ company usually provides Poser content, all DAZ content is fully compatible with Poser.

They also offer something for free every week, so I got a male model too *G*

I actually don't want to go into 3D modeling, but I saw a drawing today by someone who used a Poser pic as base, so I felt compelled to give it a try. (My experience, even with thousands of pics with sexy guys is that you never have quite the angle you need for the manip, tsk.)

I heard of DAZ Studio a while ago and thought nah, I don't think I can be bothered with 3d modelling... but you've convinced me to have another look. :-) You're right about never having the right pose for manips or drawing bases. And Spock's especially hard to find a match for. It took me ages to find someone close enough in body type to make this.
