- Not yet finished my schedule for today. Nightshift will ensue. However, there's nothing more motivating than schedule of hell. Sigh.
- My husband fixed my buggy sound on my office computer in a few hours work - poor hubby, great hubby!

And to make this entry a little bit more fun -

(Rather McCoyish, this gesture)

"Fixing the buggy sound" meant in reality:

  • Update Windows, install several updates components, reboot several times...
  • Throw out a few dozen autostart entries; Yahoo, GMX, etc.
  • reboot in safe mode .oO(Ooops, killed too many autostart entries)
  • deinstall every bit of sound-related software, drivers utilities *argl*
  • reboot several times, until Windows finally runs again...
  • download the new driver, install new driver, scratch head, because now we have no sound at all, deinstall driver
  • actually _open_ the card box of this f***g soundblaster card to find that printed board type on card box is different from actual board type (we bought a used one)
  • download correct driver ... download again because internet connection had 30 min downtime
  • install driver, reboot only once (hooray!)
  • find out that not only the good MP3 player software runs again, but also Windows Media Player works without clicking and scratching sound artifacts.

The internet downtime and reboots left enough room to prepare a good meal of pasta.

And just in case my beloved owner will install the 5.1 speaker systems that silently sleeps on the shelves since xmas last year, we will really make real use of this feature overloaded Soundblaster thing :)
