Just finished my latest story (with many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ayalesca for a great edit), which can be found at

http://www.syredronning.de/Something_Worth_Living.html
Hurt&comfort on low R level with one NC-17 K/Mc sex scene, 25.000 words

This is the first of three stories in my Rura Penthe AU series. All stories start with the premise that Kirk and McCoy couldn't be saved from Rura Penthe in ST VI, the Federation President is killed and a war between the Federation and the Klingon Empire takes place. What happens to our heroes?

EDIT: Note - big spoilers in the comments! Don't read them before you read the story.

Wheeeew! THAT WAS GREAT! Good being a commuter, so I had the whole travelling time today for reading and lots of suspicious looks from co-commuters! Where to start? Tonight a rerun of Star Trek VI on German TV, how convenient to compare your story to the original plot!
I liked the idea of an AU Rura Pente outcome and the way you wrote the story. How you integrated the hearing scenes into the story was very innovative, I felt as if I was with Spock following the transmissions. And how you described the horror of Rura Pente without delving too much into gory details was excellent. It gave me the creeps what the two went through, but it was not blunt horror, very well balanced!
You know I asked for a solution of the 'Valeris Problem' and you had one with which I can live very well, though this passage:

>"I was relieved when they were gone. Do you know that they wanted you, in a physical way? That they had considered asking you to participate in their illogical behavior? They would have kept you from starting a family."

He was somehow not surprised to learn about this, but the only feeling that accompanied it was a faint regret about lost chances.<

reflects more the solution I'd wished for ;-)

And the sex scenes, YESSIREEE! Wonderful, hot, yummy and with my (our) current obsession: perfect!

>Then he started unbuttoning McCoy's white shirt. The skin beneath was soft, the hair furry with an eclectic color mix of dark and grey.<

Melting away...

Thanks for another great story, Birgit!

P.S.

The naming of "Doc Martens" was great too! I bet he wears really comfortable footwear ;-)

peerie :o)

Thank you, that was what I was going for - glad it worked well for you!

As for the K/S/Mc tilt, it might have been possible, but I chatted with a friend and she (although not into slash actually) agreed that after such an experience, there would be a bigger gap between the two and Spock, just because they had such a different and harsh time n Qo'nos. But it seems I stepped onto some people's little squicks with S/U, LOL! And the het readers won't read it because of the K/Mc. Once again, target group fail :)))))

Doc Martens, he, didn't notice! (Beta neither).

Glad you like this K/Mc story. I think this pairing is hot and TEH SEX (ggg) because, well, MCCOY inside! There's a K/Mc group out there, maybe you'd like to join ;)? (Low traffic.)

As for the S/Mc AU story, dropped you a mail...check it out :)

Thanks again for your great feedback, you made my evening!!!

Ah, you prefer McCoy to be more active :) / the penetrating partner?

I prefer McCoy to be an equal partner, penetrating as well as being penetrated. I've read more stories in which McCoy was the one to be penetrated, so I always enjoy stories in which he is actve. I think it's because of his slim and frail appearance that he is often the one to be topped by Kirk or Spock. The more I like it when he gets active!

One of my favorite position is Spock on his back and McCoy lowering himself on Spock's dick. It's, dunno, rather active for being penetrated.

(And this position in general is a big turn-on for me, I have no clue why. I just noticed I had this in my K/Mc fic too, lol!)

**SPOILERS**

Drat you, AQ! Instead of getting ready for work, I sat here and read your story. (I had thought to myself: Oh, I'll just take a quick peak...but no, I was riveted and so I read through the whole thing!)

Believe it or not, I think this is the first Kirk-McCoy story I've ever read. And although I've never had an easy time imagining them as a couple, here it felt natural. They went through so much together--yeah, I know they were together before all that, but it still seems that their experiences would cement them (if those experiences didn't kill them, that is.)

Their initial reunion with Spock was just gorgeous. I'm glad they waited--but not too long--to tell him the truth about his wife. I was kinda hoping that it wouldn't be too late for him to become involved as well...but I think your solution was excellent.

Some of this was very hard to read--especially McCoy telling Spock just why he doesn't drink anymore (although I like the fact that he confided in Spock and only Spock.) And the trials...wow, these two went through so much. But there were some beautiful, gut-wrenching moments in there (especially as McCoy told that one woman's tale.)

I don't know if you've converted me to Kirk-McCoy--I'm still a Spock-McCoy girl at heart--but I do think this story is brilliant.

You can't believe what a big happy grin your commentary evoked on this side of the world. I'm so happy the story worked for you. Thank you!

I love Kirk/McCoy as a pairing (which singled-handedly caused me to become a member of one of the smallest TOS pairing fangroups, sigh ;) but they have a completely different chemistry than Spock/McCoy for me. Usually S/Mc is my "true love pairing", while K/Mc is more complex (read the KMc-group discussion for details, if you like). I think one can love all of these pairings for their own distinct interaction :))

Glad some of it was hard to read - that's what I wanted, but I tried to tone down the hurt (I could've written it very differently, but I wanted to have it without too many gory details).

There will be the S/Mc AU within the next weeks, which I hope you will like too - it's very different in plot to this story :)

Thanks again for the FB, you made my day!

AQ,

I'm finally at work--you know, this was a bad day to get so engrossed in your story, because it's one of the few days that I can't stay late at work...sigh.

But...even if I don't get all my work done today, the story was well worth it. So no regrets.

In fact, if you don't mind, I'm going to review it on my Fan Fic Reviews blog today...I'll shoot you a link once it's done. (Yay--another excuse not to work!)
