It's really a wonderful read - here an excerpt from page 158:

The truth is that for some inexplicable reason physical fear has never bothered me as much as emotional fear. I have never worried very much about getting hurt, while I have spent many a sleepless night being terrified of failure.

Great insights. This is the first book with him on the title where I really encounter the person William Shatner.

(And this citation is so perfect for being bunnied for Kirk...)

Oh, yes, great citation!

I think it's an attitude that Kirk and Spock have in common (and then McCoy has to deal with the results, hehe).

I actually think McCoy has a similar problem (he's not in fear of his own physical pain, only those of others, I think). He'd rather take physical than emotional danger.

I share that too. Almost all of my phobias and fears are emotional. And that except is very Kirk like too. Out of TOS, I've always been told I'm most like Kirk XD

Sounds interesting *G*

I like Shatner as a really interesting and partly strange person (aka: I don't really understand how he ticks), but I wouldn't be able to live with him even for a day!
