I found that I can live with everything this movie has done in terms of AU events - or even parallel universe, as some think.

In contrast to this, I never could live with what ENT, a series supposedly set in the normal trek timeline, did to Vulcan culture. I despise ENT for that and hated to see those altered Vulcan things pop up in websites :(

So - if you love continuity and an un-hurt original setting, this film should be okay for you because it's not touching anything of what we had so far. The characters are very close to the originals, but important corner stones have changed and altered the overall course.

See you on Monday or so. And go and see the movie! - as I will do again asap :)

*nods* IMHO, it is almost the best of both worlds: new audiovisual source with the characters we love, in peaceful coexistence with canon (and fanon!) as we know it.

The absolute best of both worlds, for me, would be new source in an AU/parallel universe setting but with young versions of the original actors. Yeah, won't happen but a girl can dream. :D

Very good point! The early years of Enterprise trashed so much of TOS canon, and their later attempts to stitch it back together in season 4, while interesting in its own way, was too little too late.

I'm seeing the movie again on Saturday.
