The pleasure of fandoms - always good for new knowledge. I had to look up what Figging really means - never saw it done, never heard/saw any of my friends doing it. Nettle play, however, is rather popular and someone should write it.

Hm... I can't think of any story with that line in it, either, and I've read a fair amount of K/S.

P.S.: Where would they get the nettles? The article I just read made it sound as if they do need to be fresh and carefully picked. So, nettles only on shore leave or do the botanic gardens have a supply? Sulu to the rescue? ;-)

I had heard of figging, mainly from reading erotica set in Victorian times. The first instance of figging in fanfiction I saw was amaneunsis1's For Your Own Good. It is pretty much amazing--Harry and Draco.

It is such a kink of mine...was so glad to see it in Star Trek.

One of amaneunsis1's fics (not sure if it was that same one) was my first encounter with the concept of figging. I have actually known someone who did it in real life... or at least I thought he did, what else do you buy tons of ginger and then wiggle your eyebrows kinkily about? I sent the fic to his girlfriend, and thus learned never to send amaneunsis1's stories to fic virgins, even if you think they may be engaging in the same activities in real life. It will freak them out.

Thank goodness I've got way kinkier friends now.
