Kirk/McCoy - Demon Hunters
Apocalypse, my ass, McCoy thought when Kirk flipped the cellphone close.
"Guess we just gotta give up now." He sank into the nearby armchair which squealed under him in complaint. He had never felt so hopeless; even the brandy right out of the bottle tasted like shit.
"Angels, demons, Lucifer himself – that's way out of our league."
"As long as the Winchesters keep going, we'll keep going too," Kirk stated, eyes bright, jaw set.
"How long are they going to make it?"
"Well – at least they're back on the road together. And we're going to meet them in two days."
McCoy stared at him. "You're kidding, right? That's as good as hopping right into the frying pan!" He waved his hand, felt the ache from the last fight in his shoulder and the burn of the alcohol in his guts. One time in the past, he'd been a guy like everyone else, family man, country doctor, before the demons came and took his little girl. It had driven his wife into madness and him to join the hunters' league – something he regretted more every day.
Kirk, on the other hand, had never looked more determined than right now, and verified McCoy's assessment by saying, "If the world goes to hell – well, at least we can give it a great showdown."
That's easy to say for a man who lives every day as if it was his last one, McCoy thought. For a second, he was tempted to say fuck the hell off and I'm not coming with you.
But then Kirk packed his things, and damn if there was another place he could go. So McCoy rose from his armchair, pushed ache and frustration and hopelessness into the back of his mind, and buckled up to leave with his friend.

Kirk/McCoy - Jim comes home from college for his mom's wedding to David McCoy and meets his hot new stepbrother
"Do I have to go?" Jim sulks, and he's good at sulking. He's just come home for his spring break, and he'd rather stay on the family farm instead of watching his mother's latest attempt at ruining her life.
"It's my wedding," his mother answers with a glare, and that's her last word on the matter. Three hours later, he's all shiny and propped-up next to her, being shown off to her new husband (god, what an old dog, but at least her men aren't his problem any longer, he'd be off in a week again) and the dozens of new family members he quickly tries to forget.
"Not much fun, isn't it?" a guy next to him says as Jim does his damnest to get drunk on the punch, fast.
The no is already on Jim's lips but then he catches the gaze of his mother and it makes him shut up.
"Why don't you let me show you around?" the guy says. Jim shrugs, but then he finally turns around and looks at the guy and – whoa – he looks gorgeous. Dark hair, intense eyes, full lips. A few years older than Jim, but he'd always had a taste for more experienced men.
"Okay," he manages to say.
"By the way, I'm Len, your new step-brother," the guy says, nudging his shoulder as he leads him into the garden.
"Does that make us related?" Jim asks when they're in a hidden corner between large bushes.
"Not enough." Len twinkles.
"Good," Jim says and leans into a first kiss.

Amanda/Uhura - Sarek is the one who falls off the cliff
The pad next to them is empty.
That's the only thing she can think once Spock lets go her hand.
The pad next to them is empty.
She's the one supposed to die before him. She's the fragile, short-lived human.
She's the one who should've died today.
She's brought to sickbay, doesn't care. In her mind, there's a large, gaping hole, something ripped out of her very core, and she can barely breathe.
"Amanda…?" a gently voice asks. She looks up into the eyes of a beautiful young woman of African ancestry, instantly knowing who this must be. The handclasp is tender, full of compassion and solace.
The pad next to Kirk is empty.
That's the only thing they understand as they wait, hands clasped, for Spock's return.
The pad next to Kirk is empty, and nothing can ever heal the wounds of this day.
But they need to keep going, and so they go together because it is the logical thing to do, deriving comfort from each other.

Pike/Gaila - Gangsters
She loves him, because he's a cool badass and the cleverest guy she's ever worked with.
He never says he loves her, because that would make him look weak, but she sees right through him.
They rob another bank, drive to another town; they're mostly on the run and they like it that way. When he drives, the wind in the open car tousles his hair. He always has one hand on the steering wheel and one on her knee. Sometimes he slips it deep between her legs, and sometimes she gets out of her seat and puts her mouth on his dick. When she drives, she always has one hand on the steering wheel and the other on his bulge, and sometimes he mirrors her movements. Once, they crash into a field.
It's the risk that turns them on. She just never supposed that this would make him end dead on the street after another robbery, his hair above broken eyes tousled by the breeze, his blood cooling on the pavement.
She never takes another partner again.

Uhura/Gaila - Vampires
Uhura has never tasted green blood before. It tastes of copper and dust and she spits it out again.
"I don't know," Gaila says as she pulls her teeth out of their victim's throat. "It's a little strange in the aftertaste, isn't it?"
Uhura nods. "Well," she says. "We can either let him go, or we can use him for other things…" They look at the chained-down body of the Vulcan, then shake their heads in unison and free him.
"Who needs men?" Gaila says with a laugh, as they fly into the night together.

Date: 2009-10-05 09:00 pm (UTC)I think if I was a SPN fan, I'd love to read more of the K/Mc SPN fic, too, it reads like the prologue to an epic fic. Quite intriguing concept. ;-)
