Well, of course immediately after I commented I had to reread the first part of the series again. ;) Poor Spock suffers dreadfully in this one. And while Kirk is great and saves him...well, you know full well who I'd rather have save him. I'm not sure I have the rest of the series on my computer, I need to read it again, I just know it doesn't end up in a threesome so kinda turns me off. LOL I still find it hard to believe that Kirk, while wanting to avoid Starfleet and worried about his wire, wouldn't trust his oldest friend McCoy sooner even if JUST to get Spock the medical treatment he so desperately needs. Spock with a damaged voice and mind that bad just HURTS.

And yes, the new love for McCoy is great...but still, it's an imitation (no matter how good) of the original one and the character would never have been half as good if not for De's own personality and acting ability that gave so much to McCoy. Just like Nimoy and Spock - which is why the movie disappoints in such an essential way - it isn't Nimoy's Spock in the new Spock...just isn't... Maybe a second movie with him less emotionl and beating Kirk up constantly will help. ;-) And if he dumps Uhura. Ahem. Sorry, new Uhura sucks, IMHO.
