My subconscious lately got stuck on the "Skyfall" song - and yes, that isn't good because it's a rather dark and fatalistic song, and so I surfed my collection for something more supportive to writing.
I doubt that Counting Horses, my Kirk-late-age-depri songvid is a really good choice, but watching it brought some interesting feelings...
I noticed I only made sonvids from October 2005 to December 2006. Each songvid had its own special technical problem, and I didn't feel like I could get a proper hold on them.
Also, my final songvid Nothing Else Matters sums up everything I love about Trek and Kirk/Spock/McCoy through the movies, so I didn't feel I had anything left I needed to say.
"Counting Horses"... I overdid the color effects, but I still love the song, and think I made good use of "Generations", a movie that I mostly ignore. Kirk is such a special character, with such a drive, but not much personal contentment later in life, in my opinion.
I think in my head, Reboot Kirk wouldn't want to have that life if it came with the strange depression and melancholy that colors so much of the movies. Some people age well - Kirk doesn't. IMVHO and YMMV.
(And yeah, now I'm writing Pike who's got some similar challenges, what the hell is it about aging characters that fascinates me so much? And DON'T REMIND ME OF MY AGE!!1!! ;)
