Dec. 3rd, 2004 02:12 pmI stopped the terribly sucking "Generations" now and put in "Obsession" in French, which is big fun. With subtitles, of course (ups, they DIFFER from what the people are actually saying *bonks head* No wonder that I'm confuzzled. I think they once translated it for localization long ago, and then, lately, translated the DVD subtitles from the scratch.)
"Kirk terminé."

Date: 2004-12-04 12:28 am (UTC)It used to be you would buy either a dubbed or subbed anime. Now you get DVD's with two soundtracks, but they seem to think the subtitles are for hard-of-hearing dub-fans so the two scripts are identical. Thank **** I know Japanese!
The DVD for "Red Violin" was a travesty. Instead of the elegant subtitles from the original film, we got something akin to closed captioning. They had taken the subtitles out of the video so they could sell the same DVD print in Mexico. The corporation saves a few cents and the end product suffers.
Fucktards.
(Actually, the worst of all is when they bring anime in on DVD's and CHANGE THE VIDEO. This is SO fucking obnoxious!)
