Preamble: I hate fashion. I hate shoes, belts, scarves, makeup and fancy bags. The only well-dressed person with taste in this household is my husband (cue to his vast collection of shoes from various angles).

Nevertheless, the City! Series - a fashion AU sucked me in like mad. Kirk as fashion zine editor, Bones as his top photographer, Spock and Uhura as fashion team, Chekov as model... and Joanna as a cute girl living with McCoy and teaming up with Jim all the time. So lovely and funny and yum. Even if the idea of a fashion AU makes you want to run - give it a try. It's worth it!

And then I'd like to rec The Size of his Dream (McCoy, Pike) - a missing scene with the talk between Pike and McCoy that ends with McCoy signing up for Starfleet. Lovely character studies that might make it into my personal Reboot canon.

Grmbl, who are the idiots who thought that the official Star trek movie page should be fully in flash so that the bits of character bios cannot be linked directly from other pages??

However, it possibly says something about my mind that when I saw the character listing - which is Kirk - Pike - McCoy as the first three, I squeed a little *insert major infatuation with these three*

And I wanted to complain about the music on the site but as I actually love the movie soundtracks, I cannot do so with good conscience *grrrr*G*

"Balance of Terror" - rebooted?

I was thinking about using the events of Balance of Terror and then suddenly went all "oh, but with the timeline shift, what would be the changes for this encounter?"

Because clearly Pike already knows how Romulans look like (in contrast to TOS where the Enterprise is the first ship to learn about their visuals).

(I remember having a read an analysis somewhere, that e.g. Starfleet would ask some serious questions after the Kelvin incident, maybe pressuring Vulcan for answers (pointed ears!) which might put strain on the Earth-Vulcan interaction and make more details known about Romulans.)

I wonder what other possible things could be changed in "Balance of Terror" in the new timeline. Ideas, anyone?
