Poly = polygamous, means having more than one partner, opposite to being monogamous.

Yes and no. Just having multiple sex partners is not the real meaning of polygamous, but to have relationships with more than one partners. Which would mean that threesome relationships are polygamous, but gang bang is not *g*

yes, though I'm now tempted to write a Star Trek fanfic where the "command crew" are in a polygamous relationship. Ex. Picard, Riker, Troi, Crusher, Worf, Data and Geordi are in a sexual and romantic relationship. But I'm thinking it would only work with Voyager after Seven shows up or with Enterprise. Maybe with TOS. *thinks*
