Just when I wrote about the expected Shatner movies, "Incubus" and "Incident in the Night on a Dark Street" arrived.

So I just watched an hour of "Incubus". Esparanto sounds funny, almost like that dialect that one of the heretics in "The Name of the Rose" speaks - put French, Italien, Latin, Spanish, German, Dutch and English in one big pot and stir well. I guess it would be easy for me to learn, but OTOH I think it has a great potential to get mixed with the pure languages, resulting in chaotic wording and grammar.

Good-looking Shat again who (unfortunately) keeps his shirt on. But it's interesting to see his typical movements, like laying down for sleep with the right arm under his head :) So Kirkian. Made a pile of screencaps.

Hubby is alive and well last I heard of him, but then, he didn't fly yet and won't likely do that today ;)

Coming next: A bit of sleep, because I had only 4 hours last night. Chinese bio is at 520/720 pages. Still very interesting.

Mostly off topic, but about Esperanto

Whenever I mention Esperanto to people, the response I usually get is: "What the hell are you talking about?" I hate it. I was taught about Esperanto at my school when I was about 7 and they kept mentioning it until highschool. I can't believe other people (mind you, people who grew up near me in the same social class, similar schooling, similar age, etc) I encounter have never even heard of it.

Especially those who call themselves language enthusiasts.

Weird.

But while Esperanto was a good idea, it obviously didn't work out. Besides, it's very European-centric, so if I were e.g. Chinese, I wouldn't like it just for that ;)

Well, I'm not saying it was flawless or that I even know how to speak it at all, just saying that I was shocked people had never *heard* of it, heh.
