Something for LotR fans
Sep. 4th, 2005 12:51 pmExcerpt from the part where someone asks if Stewart would have wished to play in "Lord of the Rings" (Yes, but...Stewart tells a long pre-story and then...)
"When we got on to the romance in it, I made the fatal mistake[...] I critized the script.[...]
" I said to him [Peter Jackson], I thought that it was a mistake in creating this romance for Aragorn. Oh, it's in it, but there is nothing like this awful mushy stuff in the book.[...]
"Listen, I said, there is only one love affair in Lord of the Ring. One. And that is between Frodo and Samwise."

Date: 2005-09-04 11:50 am (UTC)I'm among those who just can't see the Sam/Frodo thing. I understand why people might feel it's there, but unlike K/S, I just... can't. I must have read too many books about JRR Tolkien, who would probably have had an attack if someone had asked him whether the S/F hot hobbit lurve was intentional... unlike GR. Tolkien fic never really works for me.
I would actually like to know the proportion of LotR slashers who came to it because of the movies, and not the books. It sure exploded after the films. And the proportion of slashers who first saw the films, or who prefer them, or who dislike JRRT as a person (very conservative). Such a beautiful love story when he was a young man, though ^_^... And I love his utter Britishness!
And, am making notes on the dark story, will send it back in the afternoon.

(And thanks for looking at the story, I'm very curious :))
