I drove to a friend at Friday night, and then to the con on Saturday morning after only 4 hours of sleep (well, we had to talk a little about this and that ;).
The major part of Saturday morning, I was rather pissed. Still annoyed about not seeing Shatner and feeling unhappy about having to go at all - but you just don't let a 120 EUR ticket go completely unused - I was overly critical. And it's weird to have ask for the program instead of being given it right at the entry. And the organizer also often was master of ceremony, and he sucked royally in this job. Too much ego show, and while most organizing work IMHO is done due to ego, I don't want to see it displayed so openly on a stage.
That said, the day got better over buying autographs of Frakes aka Riker (who looked ok), Dorn aka Worf (who looked very tired), Suzie Plaxton aka K'Ehlyr (sp?, SEXY) and some other trek roles, the guy who played Legat Damar and Dean Haglund who played Richarg Langley of the Lone Gunmen in X-Files. Then I saw people on stage, first Haglund (really a bit of a geek and a comedian), then Suzie Plaxton who is great, lively, charming, looking gorgeous and wonderful to listen to. Then Michael Dorn came onstage, and thankfully he seemed to be more awake then during the autograph session. Very interesting, nice humor, great stage presence. But Frakes topped him - Frakes is really wonderful on stage, and was a pleasure to see him. We had lots of laughs, and even if he said critical things e.g. about Nemesis, he did it transformed through big acting, which brought the content to you without sounding like a barking little dog or overly angry or bitchy. Cool. I really loved seeing his show, and driving back to my friend I realized that while I really had wanted to see Shatner once in my life, I probably had a much better, funnier and relaxed evening with Frakes.
Therefore, I returned on Sunday morning on my way home to see the second panel with Frakes, and it was so worth it. Funny stories about Marina's little dog Zilagi which is a kind of running gag between all TNG castmembers, stories about Frakes's history as Captain America, jobber in a restaurant and hopeless attempts to make money by moving pianos ;) It was very, very nice. I left his panel with a big smile all over my face.
The trading card thingy...normally, I don't buy cards. But one of the sellers had a set of five lying around. They are part of the Cinema 2000 series and called "A Tribute to Dr. McCoy." As one webpage says: "A 3D Lenticular card, similar to the 'Command Crew' cards from "Voyager Closer To Home"; a 9 card set highlighting key moments from Dr McCoy's adventures on the Silver Screen!"
And they are BRILLIANT. I instantly bought the five and then had the big luck to find the missing four at another seller's place. I talked them into selling me the four for the price the others had, which was a lot less than they originally wanted. Seeing that in the net the set of 9 is dealt for twice the price I paid for the lot today, it was a good investment :) However, I've bought them because they look WONDERFUL *big McCoy fan squee* Will probably take a photo and publish it here tomorrow :))
So all in all, it was ok. I wouldn't buy a three-day-ticket for this con if not totally forced too, because it just didn't feel as good as the big one in spring. Less program, less profesional. However, the smaller group and the easier getting of autographs made it a nice little con for me. So for the future, I think a one-day-ticket would be a good choice. And I'll take my hubby with me to all future cons - it's no real fun going alone.
P.S. If I had to choose between trek cons and the K/S cons, I would always choose the latter because of the absolutely wonderful people and discussions and joined emotions. I'm so damn spoiled by KiScon...

Congrats on your finds!
