Last week, I got "Devil's Rain" on DVD. It's a 1975 horror movie starring Ernest Borgnine and William Shatner. And you really saw a lot of Shatner in the movie...
I actually liked the movie, it's B in the way almost all horror movies are in my opinion. Shatner looks very much like in T.J.Hooker, too old for my taste but quite well for the time. The plot of the movie is weird, so don't even try to understand it :) However, you can find more about the plot and how to see the movie in relation to movie history etc in the imdb comments, e.g.
...As horror films go, I give it a 3 out of 10. But as 1970's Satan movies go, I give it an 8 out of 10. It really is a matter of context.
...In the end, I realize that The Devil's Rain really isn't that good of a movie, but it's just so much cheesy fun that I can't help but rate it as high as I do. It's a movie that could have only been made in the 70s.
You gotta love a movie with a credit for technical adviser as "The High Priest of the Church of Satan" (he also has an effective small part in the film). This is no "Exorcist", but it is excellent cheese. Ernest Borgnine and William Shatner act their roles to pieces, which is exactly what they should do (this is camp schmaltz, folks!)....
Some pics:
What shall a poorShat guy do when facing the evil? His father and mother get abducted by the bad guy who wants his bad book back.

On his way to confront the devil - good guy meets bad guy.

True Shat :)

Shat's character tortured by Borgnine's, who's transformed into a goat!

In the end, the good guy is taken over by the bad forces. He helps to destroy the bad guy and his colleagues in the end, but his fate remains unclear (one of the plot's weaknesses).
