Ahem. Well, this particular song is, like, my personal anthem n stuff for many reasons, so you couldn't mess it up, or else ;-) Well, I don't have time right now to be very coherent, but all I can say is that at every verse I was going 'yes!! that's it! spot on!', and it worked, and there area lot of moments that were just right, and I'm late, but, well, YES. I am probably biased, but you MUST pimp this everywhere, and make an extra-high quality version so I can watch it on my TV ;-)
Erm. I'll try to be more coherent at a later, less rushed time!
Thank you so much for this feedback! I hoped for reactions like this. This song is so perfect for Kirk, and it's a rather sad song, in a way. I'll forever remember when it came out and Freddy looked so thin and was dying and was singing this marvellous song...*sniffles*

You're rubbing your fingers in an open wound here...I try, I really do. But I don't know why the heck it doesn't work! I generated a 200 MB mpeg file but it doesn't look any better than the wmv on this computer. I will try, but no promises *frustration*
So, here are some of the bits that moved me most (on the lines of, 'wow, you really matched sound & image'). I liked the fact you didn"t forget McCoy's big part in that storyline (thoguh I'm not surprised ;-)
I'm sorry it may not be very constructive, but I'm not very coherent, because of the song AND the theme/film (far from perfect, but warms my tiny teeny heart everytime):
- powerful beginning with slow, burnt, dying but still potentially lethal ship sailing through space doors, perfect with the music like Freddie Mercury, dying and yet giving everything on such a song :'(
- "Empty spaces.. what are we living for" is just spot-on for Kirk staring out at Genesis and (presumably ;-) thinking about Spock, & then the 'abandoned place', ie Spock's chair on the bridge!
- the 'hero' thing, with Scotty's nephew dying a meaningless, pointless death... Kirk's "mindless crime"?
- Wow! "behind the curtain" and the aluminium panel!
- Poor Kirk doesn't really look like he "wants to take it anymore", does he.
- Spock's 'burial': the ceremony is, after all, a show, and you've got to have a stiff upper lip... Sarek! Love Sarek.
- heart-breaking but still smiling outside is perfectly matched with Kirk's scene and forced smile with Admiral Morrow!
- Kirk's heartaches: Spock, Carol, McCoy's growing mad and not knowing what he's "looking for"...
- kinda more hopeful when they rescue the doc, know what is wrong and start their quest
- Aw, David's death! and still in synch with lyrics!
- Hm. Yeah. The Enterprise's death with the chorus. Ouch.
- ... & yet, in spite of everything, Kirk goes on, flaking make-up or no!
- crazy Brian May moment and crazy exploding planet!
- good, warm memories of friendship with McCoy & Spock along with that more upbeat part of the song
- the whole show of the fal-tor-pan, which is such a pretty, ponderous and yet moving in an understated (Vulcan...) kind of way with the chorus!
- poor McCoy "facing with a grin" yet another meld, he who loves it... those guys never give in, do they.
- squee for yet another guitar-loving Brian May Moment (c)
- Kirk ready to do anything to get what he wants, "overkill" even ;-)
- the final scene is totally heartbreaking, with Kirk looking upward like in hope, and Spock still unsure of what & who he is, & what to do, with the voices fading away... and yet there's still some sort of hope, or is it that we know what happens next?
As for the vid quality, it's still very watchable, don't worry; I'm just being greedy ;-) Maybe you could ask krss or killabeez? Their vids are amazingly clear (and huge files...)
Yes. Yes! YES!!
