Now really, woah. About 4 cm in Bremen City. We had funny rides tonight when going to the cinema and back.

All in all - 3 out of 6 points, I'd say. And I agree with former assessments that the weaknesses of the movie are in fact the weaknesses of the book.

I always thought that the goblet of fire was the weakest HP book anyway, but I haven't quite realized how DAMN cliche so many things in it are. Fleur and her girls - holy cow, that's a girl's school anno 1880. Crossed with American cheerleader ingredients. And the Russian boys and their ship..."Hunt for Red October"? The ballroom dancing, clichee again.

There are good moments in it, teenage angst and real angst, and some dialogs are rather good and humorous, but all in all my opinion about HP in general dropped severely. I begin to realize that for all the fun it can be, it IS sending out messages which I would expect from books 100 years old, not a few years. So, well, sorry...nothing I want to see again.

On the TMI front - got my menstruation again, but it's much too early *confused*

Ah, I see what you mean. In spite of all the explanations on JKR's subtle views on society & such, I can't help but see the books (& films) as having a conservative, 'good Christian' (not in the religious sense, but the values, emphasis on certain ideas, suggestions... etc) perspective.

It's a world fun to play with, but I can't get drawn into the canon as much as I am with other books/films...
Even the criticism seems like nothing new (politicians & Fudge, journalists & Skeeter...), and there are many characters that we're obviously supposed to like & cheer on that I find disturbing (the twins, for instance: they remind me of bullies sometimes; or Harry himself, who I often find annoying, terribly clueless and lacking curiosity to a fault. I cannot identify to him at all, which is, I suppose, one of the reasons why I'm not a true HP fan).
Right.
I could write lots on the subject, but I'll stop spamming you now ;-)

[livejournal.com profile] krss has made a vid from the GoF film, if you're interested.

I haven't seen the film yet myself.

Hehe... GoF is actually my favorite book, but I haven't seen the movie yet. :)

I didn't get that vibe from reading GoF, but I did raise an eyebrow when in the latest book, an adult, engaged Weasley boy does not sleep in the same room as his fianceè. As the Weasley's are generally presented as very open-minded and laid-back, that really caught me off guard. I might have expected something like than in an American children's book, but a British one??
