Between buying the movie tickets and the start of the movie, we had time to go shopping in our nearby favorite center...and I bought a little Wacom Graphite 4 Din A6 tablet.

Playing around with it now, but it's quite a challenge at the moment. Cooperation with Gimp seems to be possible, but the pen diameter setting doesn't quite work...hmm? *starts googling for troubleshooting*

Edit: It works, but only when starting with a special option that deactivates pressure sensitivity. Now it feels like the pen drawings of last weekend :) Not bad, not bad...*plays around*

It might work ;)

You have great ideas and the graphic talent to make them work, which results in wonderful icons. I point out lots of them to my husband because they are so cool :))))

Haha. Thanks! RL stress makes me make the really silly icons like this last set, so maybe I should get stressed more often... hmmm. Maybe not. *g*

Welcome to the Wacom club! *g* Mine's a Graphire 3. It took me a LOT of practice to get used to drawing with it, and my earliest efforts were pretty funny. Have fun with it!

Wacom, digital doom ;) It's not as bad as people told me, as you _can_ really draw with it. I just fear it will always look so comic-stylish, and not at all like my normal drawings. (Especially since the pressure sensitivity doesn't work in Gimp...maybe I should get Photoshop, after all. Umpf.)

Ack. That's annoying. I use Photoshop Elements because it came pre-installed on my computer, and it's plenty good enough for my needs. There's no way I'm ever going to pay for the full Photoshop. But the pressure sensitivity is one of the best parts of having a tablet because it makes the drawings look more realistic. Someone really needs to fix that if the Gimp doesn't fully support tablets, especially as they're becoming a much more common accessory for digital artists.

There is a free program (well, there's a free version and a paid version) called Art Rage that's supposed to work with tablets. It mimics real art materials like chalk, paint and pencils. I don't know if it's any good, though. :~)
