So cool: Peter Jackson optioned the Temeraire books!

Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to write a blog entry of some kind with six random facts about yourself. Then, pick six of your friends and tag them; no tag backs. This explanation should be included.

1. Instead of upgrading computers with new hardware and operating systems, I usually buy a whole new computer. (About once every two years...and yes, I own a pile: 2 active and 3 old ones at the moment.)

2. I danced in a tap dance company of 24 people for some years. Our three most important choreographies were to a piano and drums version of West Side Story songs.

3. I can get hot over technical gadgets. As in "really aroused".

4. I worked at the University of Basel/Switzerland for some months in 1994 (started my dissertation there about ESR spectroscopy, but didn't get along with the Professor and therefore went back to Freiburg to my old one).

5. I went to a catholic "gymnasium" for girls (the German equivalent of a highschool, afais).

6. I used to drive Vespa scooters for about 10 years. The first one had the words "Acid Queen" on it :)) The last one had a sticker on it: "My other vehicle is a Romulan Warbird".

Oh, I'm not talking about electric sex toys. These often leave me cold. But my sweetie talking about automation, or standing lines, or big usb hard drives and stuff... *gggg*

hmm, i've never even heard of that book series. upon reading the description, i'm not too sure if it would be my kind of book, though; i'm not too fond of alternate history or factual history blended with fantasy. which is weird, 'coz i'm rather okay with steampunk as a genre. i guess the whole thing about dragons during the napoleonic wars kinda threw me off. :S

I admit that I didn't read them either. The point why I'm happy about this is that the writer was once a fanfic-only writer who now also writes professionally, and I read both her journals. She's an interesting person, and it's a cool thing to see the development :) I wish her all the best.

oh cool, i didn't know she only wrote fanfic in the past. that's awesome that she's now progressed to writing novels, and that her novels might now be made into movies. :)

and yeah, i thought you'd like that icon. one of the many that my ex-boyfriend made me. if you want to use it, go ahead. :)

Now that you say it, I'm not sure if she started with fanfic *hangs head in shame* At least she wrote a lot, and I got the impression that she moved from fanfic to pro-writing over the last years, but maybe I got it all wrong...ah well :)
