BTW, I thought further about characters to identify with, and No#2 is Tracy Turnblad (Ricki Lake), the overweight teenager in the movie Hairspray (1988). A fat heroine who can dance, sing, has a great attitude, has a boyfriend and wins a beauty competition. Everyone is talking about homosexuals and colored people getting discriminated, but let me tell you that seeing an overweight positive heroine is so absolutely rare it makes me wanna cry for joy. And I'm not talking about overweight in the Hollywood meaning of the word, like 5.5 grams more than the model next door, but really round and cozy and woah. I was so delighted that the Oscar for best actress in a supporting role went to that sexy black singer, yay!
