*bleh* No matter how long I stare at the flight fares for my Shoreleave trip, they're not getting any cheaper. So the biggest question is:

[Poll #978264]

(No real alternatives, and I only want to change flights once per route)

I flew KLM from Almaty to LA, w/a stop in Amsterdam, and I thought they were great. I've never flown BA.

I've never flown British Airways. But KLM treated me to ludicrous luxury.

BA is great (I fly them from the US to GB all the time). But...Schipol has superb amenities--even an outpost of a museum with real quality museum art works on display. If you're going to have a layover, spend it there.

I've never flown KLM, but I've had some of the best service ever from BA.

Heathrow can be a bear for transfers. So big. So many buses. Especially if you are carrying a bag.

Thank you. I've read similar about Heathrow online. Sigh. It's like a choice between apples and pears, chances are they have worms anyway...

Both airlines are incredibly safe (the primary consideration, IMO) and are less likely than average to lose your luggage. I preferred BA to KLM only because of the service, but it's so close there's no real winner IMO.

Heathrow is a pain, and what's worse some European flights into London actually land at Gatwick so you end up having to take either the Tube or an expensive cab ride through London to make a connection.

My main concern is space between the seats (in which KLM might lose) but I fear there's no good solution besides flying World Traveller Plus from BA, which is just frelling expensive :(

I guess KLM will be it, if only for Heathrow and the convenience of starting in my home town instead of going an additional 120 km.

Hm. I said BA and Heathrow, but thinking about it Heathrow does suck rocks for changing, and I've never been to Schipol so can't comment. I do like BA service usually, though.

Go for convenience at home. Unless you're stopping over for 12 hours, which I doubt, the change airport will make no difference really.

::is hugely jealous that you're going to Shore Leave. Maybe next time...::

Thanks for your opinion :)

My Shoreleave trip turns out to be a pretty expensive thing, but I'm dying to meet my US friends again and everything is arranged. Oh well :) I'll write reports :)
