"War of the Worlds" with Tom Cruise is such a bad movie...but not the good kind of bad, unfortunately. My my my. I only watched the whole movie to be able to trash-talk about it with knowledge ;)

*nods* It's astonishing how something with as much boombang can be so fundamentally boring. Too bad because I liked the book um, and I kinda sorta used to like Tom Cruise's looks, um. Feel free to hit me now.

I like TC in some of his movies, but this one is just bad - though probably not his fault.

I went to the theater to watch this with some family members from out of town that really wanted to go see it. Boy was that a mistake. Not only did it totally gross me out and I was miserable - when I came home I found my mother had forgotten the tea kettle on the whole time and nearly burned the house down. LOL That's pretty much all I remember from the movie. Tom Cruise nearly cost me a home and it wasn't even worth it. :)

I actually paid money to see this, and not just the cheap movie seats; we went Gold Class, and took youngest son as well. What a waste of money, almost $75 for 3 tickets, for a 'treat'. I still weep when I think of it. It's in my top 10 most disliked movies. And the kicker was the other couple we went with - she didn't follow the storyline and had to ask why the Martians died. I thought everyone knew the plot.

I admit, I didn't know the plot either *cough* Not the end, at least. Well, well.

The plot isn't really explained. It's as if they assumed everyone on the planet knew the plot already from books and previous movies.

Kind of careless of the director/writers.

I remember the good old days --*is old*-- when Tom Cruise was a Hunk™ and everything he did was automatically cool. He was never really my type but I could see what my friends saw in him. These days, somehow, pretty much everything he does is Crap™. I'm so glad I fangirl a guy who still has major Cool™. *g*

It's about as good as the other War of the Worlds movies. Which yeah, isn't saying much.

The movie is actually better in it's original English version. Movies are always crappier in German. Sorry it's true.
