Today I'm asking for your favorite characters in certain pairings. I know it's a tricky question, but I hope to broaden my data. There's a similar poll in the Spock/McCoy group, but there's no such data for K/Mc or K/S/Mc.

So please, help me learn more about reader structure and fill out this survey. As for artists, preferences may be different (mine are), so they have an extra question on the bottom. Thank you!

Disregard my response to 'artist,' as I can't draw for shit. I just answered so I could submit the poll. ;)

I'm actually pretty sure that you can submit a poll without filling all questions *G*

I tried, and it bounced me back to the poll again. *spreads hands helplessly*

*chuckle*

P.S. I just looked up that a Greyhound bus trip LA<>SF would be only 160$. But I'd be there in the middle of the week, hmmm (29/30 April).

K/S/Mc Poll

I stink at polls because I always think "It depends on the moment." Over favorite "Guy" I tend to lean toward Kirk because I understand him more. But when writing a story I try to draw all three equally into it.

It puts me in a different frame of mind when I write K/S, than K/Mc or K/S/Mc. I see them as the same characters, but they inter relate on different levels -not just sexually - when I write the three as lovers, or Kirk and McCoy as lovers, etc. They communicate differently in subtle ways than when writing them as best buds.

Not sure if this made sense. I'll sneak back to the loony bin now.

I agree that it was a bit tricky to choose the characters for me too. I thought about offering a "I love them all" option, but as I wanted to see trends, I decided to stick with the single options only.

I'm also working with different mindsets depending on pairings, and was surprised myself when I had to vote "Kirk" for the threesome, because while the other two are great, Kirk is the one who IMO moves the triangle forward and is necessary of much of their development :) And this quality brings much joy to me.

Thanks for participating!

I was glad you brought this up. Not too long back I was 'put down' by a K/S writer for catering to the whims of others by writing different slash partners instead of being faithful to K/S. At first I was angry because I've heard it before, but then I felt sorry for her.

She doesn't understand the mindset of being able to put a character you usually see one way, in a total different scenario. When I write K/S/Mc, I don't think K/S with Mc tacked on. I really see a universe where the three of them are lovers, and I like it. The same goes with any pairing I write.

You got me hooked on K/S/Mc. I agree over Kirk being the glue of the relationship. What's odd is I adore K/Mc but don't really get S/Mc, although I've enjoyed some of the stories.

Go figure.

Well, from the poll I can see you're mostly a Kirk fan :) That makes K/S and K/Mc more logical.

Me, I'm a more of a McCoy fan, so S/Mc and K/Mc are my preferred pairings and K/S follows in the distance. It's not that I don't like K/S, but there's McCoy missing for me :))

As for "not being faithful"...I really dislike this attitude, but heard it often enough. Duh. Such people should go away and find their fun in the clear (and limited) grounds of the pure K/S. And everyone else should enjoy writing what they feel like to explore...

P.S. "When I write K/S/Mc, I don't think K/S with Mc tacked on."

That's very, very great. That's how it should be :)))

K/S/Mc is a very special unit with a very complex dynamics.

And I love them, happy sigh.
