TOS favorites
Sep. 1st, 2009 08:38 pmAya asked me what my favorite TOS episodes are, and besides the problem that I can much easier say which ones I don't like and actively avoid watching (Menagerie, duh), these are probably my favorites:
"Balance of Terror" - for suspension, statements like "for the peace, this ship would be expendable", people getting almost married and still killed, introspective Kirk, peace-loving McCoy, xenophobic Styles who has too much family history with the Romulans ("other people's wars", as Kirk states).
"The Ultimate Computer" - for its Kirk/McCoy awesomeness, and Spock loving a computer, and more awesome McCoy.
"Troubles with Tribbles" - for the sheer fun (I like it less since I write fanfic, because it has less character potential IMO)
"City on the Edge of Forever" - because, well, Kirk does fall in love and looks good enough to eat in that flannel shirt. It also has an awesome plot and I love the many AU possibilities here.
"Journal to Babel" - SAREK. And SAREK. Did I mention SAREK? Okay, Amanda too.
"Mirror, Mirror" - most impacting episode idea ever, making AUs canon. KIRK IN GOLD. "In every revolution, there is one man with a vision." - One of the best lines ever.
"Obsession" - brilliant Spock-McCoy-Kirk interaction, great conflict between the captain and his officers, interesting Farragut back history (which I never used so far for no clear reason).
"All Our Yesterdays" - Spock/McCoy FTW.
"Doomsday Machine" - a favorite that goes way back to the time I was seven and had it SOUNDTAPED for listening (mental images FTW *G*). I love the conflict between Decker and Spock (and McCoy), the idea that a captain/commodore can make mistakes and can get mad over stuff (everyone has a breaking point, captains just have it later than others).
And hey, I'm actually WORKING here (which is good), just listening to episodes in the back :)

Aug. 19th, 2006 10:24 pmNot able to escape a deadly vid bunny, I felt compelled to make a
Chapel vid to the Bangles song "Eternal Flame" *shakes head about
myself*
Download it as usual at http://www.syredronning.de/art.html
Since there's few Chapel around and I needed to stop editing before my
husband and I got sick of the song, the vid is not top notch, but I
hope S/Ch fans will enjoy it anyway :)
