And I have got to say, dear friends, I'm surprised about you.

I AM ANNOYED. I expected mediocrity from your comments, but what I got was...BLEH.

Okay, now that I cooled down a little, it's not all in capslock anymore, but DUH. I DISLIKE THIS MOVIE.

GAY MARRIED-IN-MASSACHUSETTS RUSSIANS STEALING BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMEN'S BODIES AS REPLACEMENT????

WTF???

From that point on in the movie, I only sat there shaking my head.

AND TOO MUCH RELIGIOUS CRAP. And who the fuck wrote the lame dialog?!

The movie really starts where season 9 ended, especially concerning the weaknesses! Scully and this kid crap (this subplot is LAME. LAME. LAME).

The Mulder/Scully relationship...BLEH. And I really love those two together. But in this movie, it is very pointless.

And while the Skinner/Mulder scene in the snow made my husband say "Now this can be slashed!" (he), it's ILLOGICAL. Why not pulling him into the warmth?!

This whole movie was full of glaring plot holes. And it wasn't selling them well either. Bits and pieces of a plot, but a lame overall exertion. And I'm not going into the dog-with-two-heads thingy.

I AM ANNOYED. And I dearly hope that when getting out of the Startrek movie next year, it will NOT feel like I felt tonight. Or Heroes Season 3. Please, be BETTER.

Main good point: They still both look remarkably good.

Tomorrow, I'll re-watch some episodes of X-Files the Series. Thank God (no matter which one) for DVDs!

P.S. If you watch the movie...stay seated. Just a tip.

Haven't seen the new X-Files yet and don't plan to but I like your rant ;-)

Hopefully, the upcoming ST film will not be a disappointment!

I really, really hope so.

Actually, I was surprised that I disliked the X-Files movie so much (with all the more or less medium to positive statements in my flist), but husband and I agree that it was far below our expectations :(

Eh, I really quite enjoyed the movie. Yes, it had plot holes, but so did the series.

:) It didn't help that they had another German speaker for Mulder, who didn't sound at all like the old one. Sigh.

It's okay, I'm happy when others like the movie, I (and husband) just found it very disappointing.

I felt similarly. Maybe I'll write a review as well, even though I should really be doing something else right now.

Hehe.

It may have to do with Mulder's (rather bad IMO) new German voice. It's really lacking!

Hey AQ!

I haven't seen the new X-Files yet...and, given your review, I think I'll just wait until the DVD comes out and go see The Dark Knight again instead, lol.

Hi Rose! :)

Well, there are a lot of people who liked the movie okay, and Mulder's new German voice actor doesn't help. His old German voice was incredibly good (I liked it more than the original one!) but the new one lacks the emotions.

So don't only trust me but I agree, watch Dark Knight again and wait for the DVD ;).

I personally thought the movie was basically a lame hollywood thriller trying to be edgy which happened to include X-Files characters. As in, I would have expected to see this movie done without the X-Files characters and think it's just another crappy movie... it had nothing of the spark of the series.

I agree. Besides the main characters just being there, it lacked everything else in comparison to the series. Sigh.

Well...
It wasn't on my TOP 10 movie list too, but I thought it wasn't that bad...

You criticized:

Too much religion

- Much religion yes, but was it shown in a positive way? NO! And that was what I liked. The catholic hospital Scully worked in gave me the creeps! And a priest who molested young boys. That's the life!

Plot holes

- I still can't get the plot of the first movie straight and I've watched that several times!

Two headed dog thingy

- well, we had the Great Mutato with two mouths, A circus freak with a living killing twin in his stomach, a guy who had a hand transplanted from a lizard, is a two headed dog so much worse?

For me it was not that good, but a good entertainment on a Monday evening. I saw it as a prolonged episode of the series. BUT I HATED MULDER'S VOICE TOO!!!

And there were some good tiny bits and pieces. Have you seen the call list on Mulder's mobile?
The names preceeding Scully's numer were:

Bowman

Gillian

(and perhaps more I didn't get so quickly)

I was planning to see the new X Files movie last Saturday with my brother, but he was late and we missed the showing we wanted to attend so we saw Hellboy II instead.

On Sunday, he went and saw it and called me up with a one word review: SUCKS!!!

*Sigh* I'd hoped it would be good - or at least passable - and I suppose I ought to see if for myself. But suddenly I find I'd really rather go see almost any other movie instead.
